Since Robson Barros started his career in the heart of the Amazon 30 years ago, he could not be more connected to his roots than now while living, producing and composing from the top of a mountain in the south of… France. Almazonia is an album which brings both the softness of the Brazilian people with the impetuosity of the Amazonian rainforest in pop, fun and sophisticated atmosphere never seen before. After playing and composing with so many great artists in jazz, bossa nova, soul and funk, Robson Barros has reached a deeper connection with his music, developing an unusual sense of the metaphysical attributes involved in creating new sounds and, therefore, finding his own identity and putting his signature in a unique musical achievement. Elements of samba-jazz, funk, reggae, and very regional Brazilian rhythms like afoxe, lundun and maracatu can be heard in Almazonia, not independently but as a part of a quantum gear for grooves and melodies which are centred to the hearts and souls of those listening to the music, revealing the Almazonia in each of us! A wealth of harmonies, unexpected melodies and existentialist lyrics affirm the poetic vein and the universal musical endeavour behind Almazonia’s twelve titles.
